5 Ways to Use Mountain House

Best Ways to Use Mountain House

While there are certainly more than 5 ways to use Mountain House meals, here are some of the most popular uses.

Backpacking

All experienced backpackers know that saving weight and maximizing the limited space in a backpack is key. Mountain house meals are lightweight, compact and calorie dense.

Camping

Want a quick and easy meal that will feed the whole family? Add a #10 can of your favorite Mountain House entree to a pot of hot water and you’ll have a hot, filling meal in minutes!

Hunting and Fishing

Hunting and fishing take focus and time. The last thing you want to do is leave your special spot just to grab a bite to eat. A pouch of Mountain House and some hot water from a thermos or portable water boiler, (like a Jet Boil) solves the problem deliciously.

Emergency Preparedness

The best way to approach emergency preparedness is by approaching it like a savings account. People keep savings accounts to help act as a financial buffer when unexpected expenses arise. Storing food for emergency preparedness is the same principle. Whether you’re snowed in and can’t get to the grocery store or you need to fall back to your food storage to save money, it’s a good idea to have food saved to help you through. Toss a few pouches in your family’s 72-hour kits and put a few #10 cans in the pantry.

One of the keys to long term food storage is rotation. No one want to have a nasty surprise of spoiled food when they need it most. With 10 year shelf life in pouches and 25 year shelf life in cans, Mountain House takes care of the hassle of rotation.

We recently had a Facebook fan share a nice note with us and with her permission we shared it with the rest of our fans.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Mountain House food but even more so now. For the past week my family has been on of those effected by the chemical spill in [West Virginia] and has been living with contaminated water. What a relief it’s been to open up a couple bags of our favorite Mountain House food, using very little water, and having delicious meals from bottled water that I know is safe. No worries about doing dishes afterwards or having to bring in fresh water just for that reason. Mountain House… You have a loyal customer for life! Thank you!” –Shelly B.

Just Because

Have a hard day at work and don’t have the energy to drag out the pots and pans to cook dinner? Did the kids surprise you by bringing half of the soccer team over for dinner? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. A #10 can of Mountain House plus a pot of boiling water equals a no-fuss dinner in minutes!
